Assist in research activities related to the IKI-RTRP project, including data collection, fieldwork coordination, and analysis. Provide support in report writing and dissemination of findings.
Job Description
- Work closely with the nursery staff of the key partners, including but not limited to, the National Tree Seed Center (NTSC), and the National Forestry Resources Research Institute (NaFORRI) of Uganda for proper production of tree seedlings.
- Support seed storage and documentation activities of RTRP at the NTSC for immediate or later use of tree growers.
- Supervise proper preparation of tree planting medium in the nurseries for the efficient utilization of soil, water and compost and production of healthy seedlings.
- Field layout demonstration of appropriate tree planting
- Working closely with the resource persons of the partner institutes and consultants
- Co-manage nurseries and seed storage facilities in the partner institutes
- Supervise casual labor
Education, Experience and Technical skills
- Diploma in Forestry from a recognized university in Uganda with at least two years of professional experience- a bachelor’s degree in forestry or a related discipline from a recognized university with at least one year of relevant experience desirable •At least two years of professional experience in Forestry, expertise in research, data collection, and analysis.
Personal Attributes and Competencies
- Team player with good organizational skills •Strong analytical and report-writing skills. •Ability to work in field settings and collaborate with local stakeholders. •Proficiency in data management and statistical software is preferred. •Familiarity with research methodologies and ability to support fieldwork coordination.
