Education:
- Master’s Degree in Environmental and Social Sustainability Assessment and Management, Environmental Sciences or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or,
- University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience:
- Experience in environmental and social impact assessments, and environmental and social audits, for environmental and social safeguard management in projects financed by international donor agencies;
- Experience maintaining working relationships with government counterparts, inter-governmental organizations, UN agencies and national and international NGO’s in politically complex contexts around development, peacebuilding and/or community resilience;
- Experience in supporting project environment and social assessment preparation.
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, and communication skills;
- Experience of working in conflict-affected countries is an advantage;
- Knowledge of local dynamics and national legal systems is an advantage;
- Proven experience with WB Environmental and Social Frameworks is an advantage;
- Conversant with relevant international and national environmental and social laws;
- Knowledge and experience of ICT-based Office applications and tools (word processing, spreadsheets and data processing, and PowerPoint).
Languages:
- IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. Working knowledge in Arabic is an advantage.
- For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
- Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
