Job description

The primary purpose of this role is to supervise the production line and manage the operations of the Concentrator Plant in a safe and efficient manner, fulfilling the responsibilities of the MR214 appointment.

Key Responsibilities
Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to all mining regulations, safety policies, and health standards. Maintain operational integrity of the concentrator plant. Issue necessary work permits including safe work, hot work, and confined space permits.
Operational Management: Oversee shift operations to meet production targets and maintain product quality. Make necessary adjustments to shift production. Coordinate production start-ups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
Human Resources Management: Manage shift human resources effectively to achieve shift targets. Plan and organize shift schedules, including assignments, rotations, training, and managing overtime.
Training and Development: Train and coach the production team practically. Ensure all team members are equipped with the necessary tools and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintenance and Reporting: Collaborate with the maintenance team to minimize downtimes and eliminate defects. Compile shift defects reports and shift handover reports.
Emergency Management: Act as the Emergency Response Coordinator in emergency situations.
Leadership: Assume responsibilities of the Senior Supervisor in his absence. Foster a strong collaborative environment with all team members.

Qualifications
Education: Grade 12 certificate with credits in English, Mathematics, and Science. A Diploma in Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering or equivalent is required; a degree is preferred.
Certification: Membership in the Engineering Institution of Zambia.

Experience
At least 2 years of relevant practical experience as a supervisor or foreman in a process plant, preferably within the mining industry.
