The *Can’t Wait to Learn* (CWTL) project is a pioneering initiative that leverages technology to deliver high-quality education to children in conflict-affected areas. The project uses digital game-based learning to provide children with access to effective and engaging educational resources, even in challenging environments.
Your Mission:
Research: Conduct user research and testing with the target demographic
Lead UI/UX Design: Oversee the design process for educational games and related digital platforms.
Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior designers, sharing knowledge and ensuring quality.
Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with developers, game designers, and project managers to translate creative concepts into functional designs.
Technical Communication: Explain design principles and provide actionable feedback to the team.
Tool Mastery: Utilize Figma, Jira, and Google Workspace effectively in your workflows.
Optimize User Experience: Ensure the user journey is intuitive and delightful, focusing on children’s engagement and accessibility.
Your Profile:
Language Proficiency:
Native Ukrainian speaker.
Proficient in English for smooth communication with international colleagues and understanding documentation.
Experience:
1+ year in a UI/UX Lead role, or 3+ years as a Senior UI/UX Designer.
Design Expertise:
User-Centered Design (UCD):
Deep understanding of user research techniques, including persona development, user journey mapping, and empathy mapping.
Comprehensive understanding of UI/UX theory and practical application.
Gamification Principles:
Knowledge of incorporating gamification elements to boost engagement and retention, especially for children.
Awareness of how design integrates into game development.
Information Architecture (IA):
Expertise in organizing and structuring content for optimal navigation and usability.
Visual Communication:
Strong skills in typography, iconography, color theory, and layout design tailored for children.
Mobile-First Design:
Expertise in creating designs optimized for mobile devices, especially for Android tablets.
Localization Design:
Understanding of adapting UI/UX for Ukrainian and other culturally diverse audiences.
Design for Education:
Experience with educational or serious games design, ensuring an intuitive and effective learning experience.
Iterative Design Process:
Ability to implement an Agile or Lean UX approach, iterating based on feedback and data.
Stakeholder Communication:
Strong ability to present designs and rationales clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Problem-Solving in Constraints:
Expertise in balancing creative design with technical and resource limitations.
Technical skills:
Prototyping & Wireframing:
Advanced proficiency in Figma for creating detailed wireframes, prototypes, and design systems.
Experience with tools like Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision, Microsoft products and Figma plugins is a bonus..
Design Systems:
Ability to create, manage, and implement scalable design systems across projects.
UI/UX Testing Tools:
Familiarity with UsabilityHub, Hotjar, or Maze for gathering user feedback and testing prototypes.
Collaboration Tools:
Proficiency with tools such as Miro, Jira and Confluence for cross-functional collaboration.
Version Control for Design:
Experience managing design file versions using tools like Abstract or Figma’s Version History.
Basic Frontend Knowledge (Bonus):
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to understand implementation constraints and facilitate better communication with developers.
Game Design Integration:
Knowledge of Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar game engines for understanding asset integration.
Animation and Interaction Design:
Experience with creating animations and micro-interactions using After Effects, Lottie, or Figma’s Smart Animate.
Accessibility Standards:
Expertise in designing for WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) compliance.
Data-Driven Design:
Ability to interpret analytics and user feedback to refine designs effectively.
