Job description

CrossBoundary Group is recruiting a fulltime Head of Investor Relations. You will own the firm’s relationship with all investors across CrossBoundary’s five investment platforms. You will be the face of CrossBoundary to the investor community. You will act as the key liaison between our investors and our platform executive teams, communicating platforms’ strategies and growth plans with investors and sharing investor feedback and sentiment with platform executive teams. As CrossBoundary is known as a market leader in blended finance and impact investment, you should also be prepared to advise interested investors on broader investment products beyond CrossBoundary Group’s proprietary offerings, and connect investors with CrossBoundary Advisory or other investment management / advisory offerings. You will work closely with the firm’s senior leadership, including Group Partners, the Group Executive Team, and all five investment platforms’ executive teams.

CrossBoundary is not a development firm and is not seeking typical development skills. You will be expected to manage high profile investor relationships and leverage them to drive growth in our five distinct investment platforms.

Who We Are
CrossBoundary operates in frontier markets that also hold immense investment opportunities. The chosen candidate will play an important role within the firm with the opportunity to make a large impact on CrossBoundary’s growing operations. Team members come from diverse backgrounds, but share several qualities: curiosity, humility, integrity, a drive for excellence, and a bias for action.

Who You Are

  • Experienced in investor relations and investor management at globally operating organizations
  • Self-starter who is passionate about building and growing relationships across geographies, sectors, and contexts
  • Natural leader and people person who believes in the power of relationships, and is willing to hop on a plane at a moment’s notice knowing the weight an in-person interaction carries
  • Willingness to take on new types of work, even without prior experience or direct supervision
  • Able to juggle multiple workstreams at once, and ensure everything is delivered on time and to the highest standards
  • Eager to understand critical feedback as a means of improving one’s own work
  • Willingness to work and live in a sometimes challenging environment

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage existing relationships with CrossBoundary’s investors, regularly communicating and meeting with key contacts to share investment platforms’ visions, strategies, and growth plans
  • Identify and grow new investor relationships that align with investment platforms’ work, support platforms’ existing networks of investors, and are strategically advantageous to platforms’ goals
  • Represent CrossBoundary at relevant industry events and conferences, and coordinate attendance by other team members to ensure CrossBoundary has the right people in the room
  • Organize, direct, and facilitate a CrossBoundary LP Summit every other year to convene all current investors across CrossBoundary’s five distinct investment platforms for general programming, platform-specific content, and various networking events
  • Partner with the Director of Global Communications and investment platforms’ executive teams to announce big wins, key milestones, and publish content with CrossBoundary’s investors as well as the broader investor community
  • Maintain a pulse on investor activity and market trends relevant to CrossBoundary’s investment platforms, and regularly share that knowledge with investment platform executive teams and other senior leadership
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all investor queries, working with investment platform executive teams and the Chief Financial Officer to respond quickly and completely
  • Command an understanding of the wealth / investment management space and an ability to speak to principles of responsible investment and how investment into underserved markets can fit into broader portfolio strategies

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Excellent people and relationship management skills: able to draw people in, connect with them, and strengthen relationships over time
  • Excellent communication and pitch skills: able to clearly and crisply communicate an investment strategy in a way that compels others to act
  • Strong collaboration and prioritization skills: able to manage one’s time across multiple teams and dozens of investors, knowing where to focus when to affect the most change
  • Strong existing network of relationships from previous roles held in the space in which CrossBoundary operates
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to creatively and independently solve new problems with no established paths or proven solutions

Required skills and qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of work experience in investor relations or investment management at globally operating organizations
  • Experience with organizations focused on the intersection of private capital and underserved markets (preferred)
  • Prior experience in developing countries (preferred)
