The Project Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in driving projects and progress
within the department. The right person for this role will thrive dealing with details and
timelines, with excellent project management skills. They will ensure all moving parts of
projects within the department stay on track, liaising with stakeholders and key contributors
to ensure project success. They are able to think ten steps ahead and plan for potentially
significant contingencies.
They will also be someone who is able to continually spot potential process improvements
and implement approaches that enable the department to deliver services with optimum
effectiveness and consistency. A background in effectively defining, tracking and reporting
on key metrics and KPIs will also be of great benefit to this role. In addition, in the medium-
to longer-term and once established in departmental workflows, the successful candidate
would be willing to consider an organizational view on how project management
approaches could be embedded across the organization, and share best practices with other
team members.
At the same time, they will be able to work alongside the Executive Director to think
strategically about large-scale projects, especially those involving extensive stakeholder
consultation and an intersection with governance, to plan out effective project frameworks.
This person will feel therefore need to feel comfortable working with and reporting back to
key leaders within the organization, including the Strategic Leadership Team and members of
governance.
Finally, this role involves line management and budget oversight of the Operations Team
