Job description

Key Responsiblities include:

  • Oversee and ensure all repairs are carried out to the correct standard and only safe and reliable vehicles are allowed to be used
  • Oversee and coordinate all workshop maintenance and repair activities to ensure smooth operations
  • Supervise and support workshop technicians and field parts stores in daily tasks
  • Ensure compliance with company’s policies and local regulations for all maintenance and repair work.
  • Schedule regular maintenance and repair activities, minimizing vehicle downtime and ensuring operational efficiency
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all equipment repairs, maintenance schedules, and inspections
  • Ensure workshop safety standards are followed and provide guidance on safe work practices
  • Assist the Fleet Manager in ensuring that vehicle safety assessments are conducted and properly documented
  • Monitor the usage and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment, ensuring proper functioning
  • Compile timeously parts required for repairs and communicate to ensure timely procurement
  • Maximize internal repairs to cut costs and reduce dependency on external services
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, ensuring continuous improvement in their skills
  • Produce reports as required, detailing workshop performance, maintenance activities, and issues that need attention
  • Daily deployment of jobs to staff under the incumbent
  • Execution of jobs within the timeframe

Requirements

You need to have:

  • 5-10 years of experience in managing workshop operations, vehicle maintenance, repair, and related equipment
  • Automotive Craft Certification
  • Valid Drivers license
  • Proven record in managing a technical team and maintaining high-quality standards in workshop environments
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair processes
  • Experience with workshop tools, equipment, and safety standards
  • Familiarity with automotive repair management systems (Desirable)
  • Auto electrician experience (Wiring and troubleshooting, alternator, starter, and Battery related experience an added advantage).
    Hours of work: 48 hours minimum with travel when required.
